Besides amazing nature views, comfortable rooms come with a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge and an en suite bathroom. Yukata robes and green tea are provided. Guests sleep in Japanese futon bedding on the tatami (woven mat) floor. The Ryokan is very close to the Itsukushima Shrine and the Momijidani Ropeway. So its very convenient to visit the Shrine at 6.30, return for breakfast and then head to the ropeway which begins service by 9.00. The staff were very polite and helpful. The breakfast and dinner were excellent, especially the vegetarian meal. It is a short walk away from the ferry terminal, but the Ryokan offers a shuttle service for pick-up and drop.

Certain rooms include an en suite bathroom. Toiletries and slippers are provided for in the private and shared bathroom. The property was located near the park within walking distance of main attractions. It was well taken care of and had an onsen. The food was great and staff were very friendly and accommodating. They added to the experience and did a great job of making us feel very welcome.

The units are equipped with air conditioning, a fridge, a minibar, a kettle, a bidet, slippers and a desk. Each unit is equipped with a private bathroom with a hair dryer, while some rooms are equipped with a balcony and others also offer garden views. At the ryokan, units are fitted with bed linen and towels. Our stay at the hotel was exceptional. We enjoyed every moment—from the staff, the ambiance, the room, and the place as a whole. A special mention goes to the dinner we had at the hotel, prepared by Chef Kenya Akita, who undoubtedly deserves three Michelin stars. Chef Akita, a Japanese culinary artist, trained for 13 years in France at a Michelin-starred restaurant before returning to Japan to adapt his extensive culinary expertise to the local cuisine. Every dish was outstanding, both in terms of flavors and aesthetic presentation. The meal was simply extraordinary. Don’t miss it!

Set in Yasugi, 26 km from Mizuki Shigeru Road, Shokinkan offers rooms with air conditioning and free WiFi. The property is situated 26 km from Lake Shinji, 27 km from Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum and 24 km from Matsue Station. Shimane Art Museum is 26 km from the ryokan. Shokinkan is a truly magical place operated by incredible people. Nestled in a gorgeous, ancient temple complex, the grounds are extremely fun to hike/explore during the day, with plenty of opportunities to learn about the history of the place through thoughtful signage and the wonderful staff. The food was absolutely delicious - we were eating a feast of unique foods specially prepared for us every evening and morning, which made the experience epic. Okami-san and everyone else here gregariously welcomed us with cups of beautiful matcha, and even shuttled us to and from Yasugi station and to the Adachi Museum of Art. I will never forget this place!

All units in the ryokan are equipped with a kettle. There is a private bathroom with bidet in some units, along with slippers, a hair dryer and free toiletries. The units will provide guests with air conditioning, a safety deposit box and a flat-screen TV. The dinner was incredible! They brought it to our room and had an English menu to explain what the different food items were. The onsen was also very nice and we also enjoyed having drinks in the rooftop bar area! I would definitely stay here again!

Situated in Onomichi and only 25 km from Oogamiyama Omoto Shrine, Suminoe Ryokan features accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. The 3-star ryokan has garden views and is 28 km from Saikon-ji Temple. The ryokan features family rooms. Beautiful Ryokan in an old traditional building with a, lovely garden, right next to the sea. I enjoyed my stay right from the start with the warm welcome at check-in (owner could speak some English - thank you). The room was like the photos promised, a cosy futon waiting for me (there was also a tasty lemon treat in the fridge). Although small, the bath was nice and I could relax after a day of cycling. Breakfast was also delicious. Next time, I'll book dinner as well.
