Besides amazing nature views, comfortable rooms come with a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge and an en suite bathroom. Yukata robes and green tea are provided. Guests sleep in Japanese futon bedding on the tatami (woven mat) floor. Jukeiso and his stuff is perfect in every way. I felt more than welcomed and more than special. Stuff is so nice, so kind and dinner and breakfast … God bless all these hands which prepared this food. Itadakimasu.

Combining modern design with a homely decor, Kikunoya Hotel offers both Western and Japanese-style rooms. Entertainment options include cable channels and a DVD player. Certain rooms include an en suite bathroom. Toiletries and slippers are provided for in the private and shared bathroom. The staff was extremely welcoming and kind. They did their very best to help us to our room, tell us about the hotel, how the traditional Japanese style rooms worked, where we could go dine in the area and much more. They even drove us to the harbour when we were leaving the island. We only wish we had stayed one more might at this hotel. The breakfast was quite good as well, and a motherly staff member explained everything in detail here as well, as how to enjoy the food the best way possible and more. We're definently coming back.

Itsukushimahigashimonzen Kikugawa, a property with a shared lounge, is located in Miyajima, 2.3 km from Tsutsumigaura Beach, 500 metres from Five Storey Pagoda, as well as 700 metres from Itsukushima Shrine. With a garden, the 2-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The accommodation provides luggage storage space and a housekeeping service for guests.

At the ryokan, every unit has a tatami. A fridge and kettle are also provided. The units in the ryokan are equipped with a flat-screen TV and a hair dryer. Basically everything : its location, renovation (it has been fully renovated 5 years ago apparently, materials are beautiful, minimalist yet you can feel subtitle taste), especially the garden and living-room area on the first floor, all the amenities are perfect and clean. You can feel traditional Japanese vibes with a fresh newly renovated atmosphere. It feels like a contemporary ryokan. My dad was able to enjoy for his first time a traditional Japanese breakfast and it was a great experience. The staff also advised us several restaurants options for dinner, and it was indeed very nice places as well. The same staff advised/helped us with a ferry route between Miyajima to Matsuyama.

The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Rooms in the Annex include a private bathroom with a bath and toilet, while rooms in the historical Main Building and Cottage Annex have shared bathrooms and toilets. Beautiful property. We had the half board with multi course traditional Japanese meals. They were amazing but yes, pricey. We wore our traditional Japanese. The hubby used the Osen and said it was fabulous. I didn’t go as I stayed with our 10 year old daughter who didn’t feel comfortable doing it. The staff was helpful and courteous. We left our bags with them on the day of checkout and they brought us to the ferry around 14.30.
