The most wonderful stay at a property that was hands down the most luxurious one we stayed at whilst our two weeks in Japan. Describing the suite and the level of care that has gone into making this ryokan a pampering experience for guests in words would not do it justice. From the private onsen, Aesop products in the bathroom, fully stocked fridge everyday (all complimentary), huge and extra comfortable beds and incredible Japanese breakfast. We loved every second of our stay in Kanazawa and were so glad to add an extra night.

At the ryokan, the units are fitted with bed linen and towels. Absolutely loved everything about this stay in Kanazawa. The staff - Uchida San and Nakamiya San - were both so kind and helpful. We had great conversations with both of them who didn’t shy away from giving us great recommendations about local spots to see and eat at! Their warmth and the homeliness of the Machiya itself was refreshing after staying in hotels at our previous cities. The place is clean, spacious and authentic with the furnishing and tatami floors. The onset within the machiya was the cherry on top. Overall the location of the machiya is within walking distance to the main Kanazawa station which was very convenient.

Guests at the ryokan can enjoy an Asian breakfast. At Shirasagiyu Tawaraya, the traditional restaurant is open for dinner and serves Japanese cuisine. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. This was a unique experience. Having a hot open air bath to the sounds of birds and a waterfall… unforgettable. Beautiful view from the room, the facilities are all new and clean, the staff were incredibly sweet and helpful

Located a 5-minute drive from JR Kanazawa Station, Ryokan Yamamuro offers Japanese-style guestrooms with free WiFi. Omicho Market and Kanazawa Castle Park can both be reached with a 5-minute walk.

Guests can stroll around the Higashi Chaya District, a historical entertainment district with various shops, located a 8-minute walk away from Yamamuro Ryokan. Kenrokuen Garden is 10-minutes’ away on foot while the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art is a 15-minute walk away. Myoryuji - Ninja Temple is a 10-minute drive from the property. Ryokan Yamamuro is a traditional Japanese inn run by a mother and her son Bungo. The place is incredible; the rooms are clean and beautiful, it’s perfectly situated, and the hosts are kind beyond belief. Bungo took his time explain Kanazawa, and recommend activities based on what I liked. For the facilities, the onsen of the Ryokan is also wonderful, and the futon bed is comfortable. I cannot recommend this place enough for travelers, it’s definitely a must if you plan on exploring Kanazawa.

Rooms have a tatami (woven-straw) floor and low furniture. Some offer beds, while other rooms come with traditional futon bedding. All rooms are fitted with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a fridge. Yukata robes are provided. Extremely relaxing. The staff could not be any kinder or more helpful. A highlight of our trip.

Great place with Japanese style, larger than expected room. Also very nice hosts. The shared bathroom and bath were fine too.
