We really appreciated getting walked through the onsen etiquette and what to know for our stay in general when we checked in. The onsen was so relaxing including different pools and sauna and liked that the men and women switch each day and they have long hours so got to experience both. Loved the yukatas! Recommend getting a massage and including food.

Free Wi-Fi access is available at the entire property. I stayed at this wonderful ryokan during my trip to Kyoto, and I’m still deeply impressed! This is a truly authentic Edo-period style ryokan, with a serene and cozy atmosphere that beautifully preserves Japanese tradition. Everything—from the interiors to the hot baths—radiates a deep respect for cultural heritage. I want to especially thank the staff. I accidentally left a valuable piece of jewelry in the bath and had nearly accepted that it was lost. But the staff not only found it—they contacted me and kindly mailed it to my hotel in Tokyo. I was genuinely touched by their honesty, care, and attention. This place became more than just accommodation—it became a special memory of my journey in Japan. I will definitely return and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a truly Japanese experience and heartfelt hospitality. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Some units in the ryokan have private entrance and are equipped with wardrobe and tatami. Units are complete with a private bathroom, while certain units at the ryokan also provide guests with a seating area. The breakfast service was a highlight of our stay! The beautiful decor, authentic experience with the irori bbq made in front of you was incredible. Everything was delicious, with strong attention to detail giving you a humble luxury that feels typically Japanese. The room was simply gorgeous and the bed incredibly comfortable. The complementary items (late night soba, stocked fridge) made it even more special and intentional.

Hi, once i left my comment but disapeared :/ Ok trying once more :D Very nice hote and had tradicinal ryokan, they also provide yukata for everyone, polite staff, they do nice traditional breakfast, also they can organize traditional tea ceremony with renting the kimono. We had very nice stay.
The staff were so helpful and welcoming! I loved getting to wear a Yukata and sleeping on a futon on the tatami floor.
Friednly owners, who allowed us to drop our baggage before the check in, cute ryokan with very comfy futon beds, private onsen is just a plus to the whole experience! Owner suggested us to explore Kyoto at night which was a great idea (magical and no crowds)! We loved the whole experience! Great value for morey, would 100% visit ahain and I have already recommended it so several friends who are travelling Japan
The japanese style of the room reminded us a classical Ryokan. Sleeping on a futon and tatami floor is a great experience. The location of the hotel is perfect because it allows to reach easily the subway and the train station.
Our host / owner of the ryokan, was very warm and friendly and we immediately felt comfortable. We enjoyed the traditional futons, the yukatas and a close encounter with the Japanese family. The dining experience was superb! It is very near Nishiki Market. My family is grateful for the lady host who rode her bicycle to grab a taxi for us for our airport transfer. We couldn't recommend this enough. Grateful.
Amazing experience - Ryokan stay. Proper futon plus tatami sleeping in a large room, especially large when you put aside the tatamis. Makes you wonder why on earth we need the huge useless beds that occupy 60% of a room and make it useless during the day. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The hosts were extremely gracious, and I love that it’s family-owned, in the building they live in! There is lovely tatami in the rooms and pretty comfy futons, with beautiful, minimalist decoration. Yukata and tea were provided for a full, relaxing ryokan stay.
It's a ryokan in a high building where you get yukatas, bento breakfast (beef is best), futons on the floor and a wonderful indoor onsen. We lived there for 3 nights and the best time to vizit the onsen was at 4 pm or about midnight. We walked to Gyon and Kiyomizu-dera, it took about 30-40 min.
If you want to spend a few nights in a real ryokan (not the edulcorated-for-tourist replicas), this might be the real deal. Wooden and paper panels, tatami, futons, internal garden, traditional shower, in-room tea-set, yukatas, and many other details. My kids (14 and 11 y.o) said this was the best hotel in our 3-weeks-trip throughout Japan. The staff is very kind and eager to make your stay great.
