Itsukushimahigashimonzen Kikugawa, a property with a shared lounge, is located in Miyajima, 2.3 km from Tsutsumigaura Beach, 500 metres from Five Storey Pagoda, as well as 700 metres from Itsukushima Shrine. With a garden, the 2-star ryokan has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The accommodation provides luggage storage space and a housekeeping service for guests.

At the ryokan, every unit has a tatami. A fridge and kettle are also provided. The units in the ryokan are equipped with a flat-screen TV and a hair dryer. The silence, the calm, the location, the room, the atmosphere. It was beautiful and it was worth every penny. I would have stayed a week.

The ryokan offers bed linen, towels and laundry service. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the host was very kind and helpful.

Traditional multi-course meals are served for dinner and a Japanese set menu for breakfast. Japanese-style hotel Mizuhasou specialises in fresh seafood and exquisitely prepared local seasonal dishes. Meals are served at the dining room. Loved everything about it ! The private onsen was definitely a huge plus. The rooms were perfect. The meals were lovely and very copious. The location is perfect. I had lower expectations but this place exceeded all my expectations and was one of the highlights of my trip for sure.

The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Rooms in the Annex include a private bathroom with a bath and toilet, while rooms in the historical Main Building and Cottage Annex have shared bathrooms and toilets. Selected Iwaso for an authentic Japanese ryokan experience, and our expectations were exceeded. Our room was large, decorated in a traditional style, with a terrace with a view of the forest and brook. Everything was perfectly clean. Upon check-in, we have been provided with yukata which was very comfortable to wear. Both dinner and breakfast were of a traditional Japanese style and were absolutely delicious (before our arrival, Iwaso reached out to us with a query as to our dietary requirements and vegetarian options). We slept on futons on the tatami-matted floor which was very comfortable. Onsen was delightful, especially the outside one when one can look at the forest and listen to the nearby brook and crickets. Staff was very friendly, helpful and responsive. Iwaso is located conveniently for exploring Miyajima, a couple of minutes of walk from the ferry. Iwaso also operates a shuttle to the ferry which you are offered to use before checkin or upon checkout.

Featuring 2-star accommodation, Yamaichi Bekkan is set in Miyajima, 2.3 km from Tsutsumigaura Beach and 700 metres from Five Storey Pagoda. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The ryokan features family rooms. Everything was exceptional, but the owner's kindness took a special spot. There's not a single thing I would change. I just wish I could repay them for the wonderful night we spent in Miyajima.

ITSUKUSHIMA IROHA is located in Miyajima’s Omotesando Avenue, a 5-minute walk from Itsukushima Shinto Shrine and Miyajima Pier. The hotel offers a restaurant and Japanese-style rooms with free wired internet access. I adored this hotel, couldn't have been better located and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was stunning and I was very sad to leave. The snacks and drinks on the balcony watching the sunset were highlights.
