The Japanese-style rooms at Historical Ryokan Hostel K's House Ito Onsen are air-conditioned and come with traditional tatami-mat flooring. Most rooms enjoy beautiful views of the Matsukawa River. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The historical building and the interior with all of the sitting spots was well done. The kitchen facilities were clean and well stocked and the AM coffee was very much appreciated.

Exceptional setting surrounded by forest. Simple and high quality design with attention to detail everywhere across the house: materials, lights, blinds, equipment both indoor and outdoor. Very comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, quality toiletries, fantastic sauna, onsen, pool, phone chargers in every room etc. Relaxing place with Japanese flair. Fridge was prepared with soft drinks and beer.

Our special thanks goes to the very nice male staff who render his efficient services in table-setting for the many dishes of traditional Japanese cuisines, both for dinner and breakfast. He guided us the unique flavors of each type of food and the best way of eating with various sauces and condiments. He took the initiative to give us pamphlets about the sight-seeing spots nearby. We took his advice and did another hour of touring to learn more about Atami. It was a very hospitable and warming journey we had had with this hotel. A bar can be found on-site. The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. We enjoyed our stay in traditional Japanese ryokan. For us it was a first experience and we truly could feel the relaxing atmosphere and hospitality. Traditional Japanese breakfast is very interesting to try, it’s more like a ceremony and restaurant’s stuff is extremely nice and professional. The location is also good, it’s a short walk to Shuzhenji walking area. The hotel has a nice landscape, every house has its own privacy.

Atami Sekaie is set in Atami, 2.5 km from Atami Sun Beach, 25 km from Hakone-Yumoto Station, as well as 36 km from Shuzen-ji Temple. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk.

Hakone Checkpoint is 22 km from the ryokan, while Hakone Shrine is 25 km away. The evening meal was a delicious curated seasonal multi-course menu, with tender wagyu beef as the highlight. The staff were so attentive even though we had very limited Japanese. And of course the room, onsen and view were amazing.

Isoaruki no Yuyado Ushiogumo -6 years or older- features sea views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Kawazu, 37 km from Shuzen-ji Temple. Guests staying at this ryokan have access to a balcony. Guests have access to a hot spring bath, public bath and open-air bath. Our favourite of the four ryokan we had the pleasure of experiencing in Ryokan. What tipped it was the incredible staff, who went to every effort to make us feel welcome throughout, and managed to walk a perfect line between friendly and professional. We were particularly grateful to the one lady who took charge of both our meals directly; this personal touch - making sure you have the same point of contact throughout your stay - seems to be a feature of Ushiogumo, and was very much appreciated. The room and rotenburo overlooking the beach is beautiful, with ample amenities including a charming coffee stand in the adjoining powder room. Dinner was also excellent, with each course prepared and brought to us individually in our private dining area, as well as a sake tasting set that I thought was extremely generous in its proportions. In fact, I think maybe the most skillful aspect of the whole arrangement is that Ushiogumo does well to screen guests from one another, so that you have the impression that the whole ryokan is put on entirely for your benefit.

The ryokan boasts a variety of wellness options, including a public bath, an open-air bath and yoga classes. The area is popular for cycling and hiking, and free use of bicycles is available at this 4-star ryokan. The ryokan has a picnic area where you can spend a day out in the open. Everything. Knowing how amazing our stay was, we wish we had stayed 2 nights instead of 1. The e-bikes were a hit, as was the evening meal and the onsen. Room was extremely comfortable. Staff were lovely.

Situated in Atami and only less than 1 km from Atami Sun Beach, 素泊まり宿　瑞宝荘 features accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. The property is located 26 km from Hakone-Yumoto Station, 33 km from Shuzen-ji Temple and 48 km from Mount Daruma. Lake Ashi is 28 km away and Hakone Open-Air Museum is 34 km from the ryokan. This was the best hotel I’ve stayed at. It was run by this cute lady, who was very talkative, friendly and just enjoyed getting to know travelers. She made my stay super comfortable and I felt so at home here. I definitely want to come to Atami again just to stay here and see her again.

Set 10 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, Yumeguri no Yado Yoshiharu offers 5-star accommodation in Izunokuni and has a garden. Ideally located in the Izu Nagaoka Onsen district, this ryokan provides a terrace, as well as a hot tub. The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. I enjoyed the variety of Onsen. The food was delicious. Staff were so nice too.
