We loved everything about our stay. But if we have to single out three things it would be the unbelievably beautiful remote location of this inn with its onsen, the gourmet dinners and the kind, hospitable staff.

For more relaxation, it has a sauna and a games room, while massages can be arranged. Beautiful hotel hidden between the mountains in the valley. The japanese rooms were big and comfortable, loved having access to very fresh water all the time. The staff were really attentive, friendly, helpful and kind. The hotel also offers a free night tour to the vine bridge, which I highly recommend. The outdoor onsen is breathtaking, you reach it by using a cable car(or climbing it yourself). Very well maintained and beautiful setup, and you can literally sit for hours looking at its beautiful real nature background. Outside of the onsen, there is a very old rest area with tea and water, and a sunken hearth (irori). The smell of its burning wood creates a very pleasant aroma. Highly recommend sitting on the tatami in the room while the sun shines through the windows so you experience shades of red you have never seen before. Dinner and breakfast use local ingredients, and everything you try is explained in great detail. Also, you get to hear the beautiful singing voice of the owner of the hotel while she sings you a traditional japanese song during the dinner time. Because the hotel is located in a remote valley and unless you have a car, it will be hard to get around. The buses pass scarcely and they are small and can be crowded. If you try to walk, you will always be walking on the road. You can rent assisted bicycles in the hotel, which makes it easier to get around. Oh, and you will probably see wild monkeys crossing the roads if you venture around.

At the ryokan, every unit includes a tatami and a flat-screen TV. At the ryokan, the units are fitted with bed linen and towels. Staff exceptionally helpful with travel by rope way and bus about stops and time. Also about restaurants and local Lawsons which is .5 K walk. Excellent breakfast. Nice onsen with additional cold tub great for hot weather.

There is a restaurant serving Japanese cuisine, and free private parking is available. The staffs were helpful. The dinner and breakfast were great. The room were clean.

A Japanese multi-course kaiseki dinner is served, comprised of Tokushima's local specialties acquired from the ocean, river and mountains. The free use of the ebike was a bonus given the location , free access to the Onsen was also fantastic

Offering beautiful views of the changing seasons in the Iya Valley, hotel Iya Onsen provides Japanese-style accommodation and natural hot spring baths. Rooms come with free WiFi and the hotel offers a shuttle to/from JR Ooboke Station upon prior request. Springs were spectacular. Room with deck was enjoyable.

However, staff, food and hot spring is nice and nearby river is a good place to go for BBQ in summer. If you are looking for place where the time stops, this is where you want to go.

The property also offers accommodation for disabled guests. Fabulous hotel in the countryside by a river. There's nothing much around it, but everything you need is inside - restaurant, shop, vending machines, and of course, the onsen. Our room was large, with a view over the river. The restaurant had many options for dinner and was inexpensive, and the food was delicious. The included breakfast was also great.
