Aki was the best host we could’ve imagined. He was incredibly friendly and enthusiastic! He was already waiting for us as we arrived at the train station and greeted us with a big smile. The property is absolutely gorgeous and warm. We didn’t have much time to sightsee, since we were only staying one night, but Aki managed to show us all of the nearby sights that had to be seen. I was very excited for this stay ahead of time after seeing the excellent reviews, but I have to say this experience still exceeded my expectations. Truly incredible. I really hope we can come back soon. An excuisite place and an excuisite host! Much love.

The host is exceptional and the house is in an excellent location for sea walks and surfing. Kitchen has absolutely everything for cooking your own meal. The garden is full of flowering plants. Very beautiful.

I highly recommend travellers to stay at this guest-house, especially if you want to experience Japanese country life. People in shimosato are friendly, and the owners were kind and answered questions in time. The house is kept clean, and has a very nice space for cooking.

Communication with staff to arrange for luggage storage was great. We had only ~20 minutes to drop-off our suitcases and jump back on a train headed to Tanabe - someone waited there for us. Thank You!!! The location is so close to the train and bus stations, and just a short walk to the waterfront and all of the shops/restaurants. Facility was neat and clean and we enjoyed our stay. Definitely recommend Ji-yu Ji-ya if you are visiting Katsuura.
