Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. The property offers free WiFi access in rooms and in public areas including the shared TV lounge and the terrace. staff was extremely pleasant. the place is amazingly decorated. They made special and great breakfast for my spouse who's gluten free.

WiFi is accessible at public areas for free, while the private-use hot spring bath is available at a surcharge. We stayed here for one night during our honeymoon and it was exceptional! Beautiful rooms with views over the river and Honkoji Temple. The onsen baths were wonderful, especially the outdoor areas, and the food was some of the best we tasted during our time in Japan! We can't recommended it enough, it was a highlight of our trip!

Hosts were very nice to us, gave us vegetables and fruit as a gift. House was nice clean and comfortable. Plenty of cooking appliances. Had a nice camp fire, saw stars at night. Excellent place for 20,000en. I'd go there again in the summer and swim in the river.
