Auberge Hidanomori is one of the gems of Takayama. It is a fantastic property, with beautiful rooms and 2 private onsens. Very friendly/helpful staff, and the meals were some of the best we had in Japan. Fantastic pairings!

Sato san from the front desk was helpful and friendly. We appreciated her for helping to change our room from second level to ground level as we had a large luggage and there's no elevator. The buffet breakfast is delicious, happy hours and night snacks is a plus.

Everything was fantastic. Stuff didn't speak much english but we could communicate really well. Everything was written and easy to understand. The atmosphere was wonderful. It's a traditional building with a bit old equipment but very well kept. It just added to the experience. Location was really close to everything.We would spend more nights here if we knew what great experience we will get.

It’s was perfect for exploring Takayama. Walking distance from train station -and the old town. Lots of eating locations nearby. The two seperate bedrooms were great and a small kitchen with all amenities. The host keep in touch via messages. Good communication. Easy pin entry.

    We enjoyed our stay at SOY, the hosts Tai & Nobuko made us feel extremely welcomed, Tai was generous and punctual with providing shuttle service to and from town which was great given the location of the house being further away from the city center. The atmosphere of SOY was exceptional, we got to slow down and appreciate our surroundings which gave us the much needed reset to our busy itinerary. We hope the cat Tama is feeling better since we last saw her!

    A budget hotel that offers nothing fancy but it was convenient, clean, warm, and comfortable. The location was superb right opposite the train station. There were minimart and restaurants around. A good place to stay if you visit Takayama central and don't want to burn your budget on accommodation.
