Our stay at lavender home was fantastic, it is homely, comfortable and the hospitality was out of this world. The rooms are clean and the AC is cold so after a humid day it was much needed. We had our 2 year old with us and the hosts were so friendly and gracious with him that he felt right at home in their arms! The seating area overlooking the rice paddy was ideallic and we spent many hours relaxing on the balcony. We got given local fruit and king coconuts to try. We had dinner at the property each night and the fresh Sri Lankan curries were fantastic! They also arranged a safari to Yala national park, it was well organised and included a packed breakfast and lunch. We definitely recommend staying at lavender home if you are planning on visiting Tissa.

This was our second stay at the coconut gardens, we came a few years ago and both stays have been fantastic, the staff are wonderful the rooms are great and the pool is lovely. The restaurant served very good food and the breakfast was great ! They also organised safaris for us which were amazing and our driver was brilliant. The coconut gardens was one of our favourite stays of our whole trip !

The owner runs the hotel himself and takes care of everything. Great breakfast and unbelievable dinner. There is no menu, instead the owner writes a new menu every day, depending whats good and fresh at the market. Unbelievable prices for the food. I paid less for the biggest and tastiest tuna steak I had in my life than I paid for a club sandwich in some other places in Sri Lanka. Great mattress, great pillows. Clean rooms. Hot water. AC works perfectly. The beach was almost empty at times. So this is a great place to relax, enjoy the sun and the beach. It is a bit away from all the hustle and the next city is a bit away, so don't go there, if you want to party. The hotel is right next to a bird sanctuary, so if you want to do a bird watching tour, this is great starting point.

The room was well equipped and very clean. The location was good- in a quiet area, close to the beach and to the main road that leads to the city centre, also there is a place to park a vehicle. The best part was the hospitality and the kindness from the hosts. Nadin and Asha are just wonderful! They prepared delicious food for us, gave us so many useful tips about our trip and even made us a Christmas surprise!!! Just amazing!
