Our stay at lavender home was fantastic, it is homely, comfortable and the hospitality was out of this world. The rooms are clean and the AC is cold so after a humid day it was much needed. We had our 2 year old with us and the hosts were so friendly and gracious with him that he felt right at home in their arms! The seating area overlooking the rice paddy was ideallic and we spent many hours relaxing on the balcony. We got given local fruit and king coconuts to try. We had dinner at the property each night and the fresh Sri Lankan curries were fantastic! They also arranged a safari to Yala national park, it was well organised and included a packed breakfast and lunch. We definitely recommend staying at lavender home if you are planning on visiting Tissa.

Offering a year-round outdoor pool and barbecue, The Coconut Gardens Hotel & Restaurant is located in Tissamaharama, 900 metres from Tissa Wewa. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. By far the best hotel out of 7 that we stayed at during our 2 week trip to Sri Lanka. The staff were great, the hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the food is sublime and the driver who took us on safari was very acommodating and good at his job.

Honestly, the best place we stayed at. We were not even planning on staying in Yala but made a stop here. Best decision. The rooms were nicely air-conditioned, so comfortable and clean. The hosts are incredibly friendly and omg, the home-made food was the best we had in Sri Lanka. We actually felt at home. I would recommend staying here for sure. We got really lucky here.

We had a big, brand-new room with a queen bed and AC – but designed in a style you can only dream of when imagining a stay inside a national park. You can truly immerse yourself in nature, sit on a porch or a terrace up in the trees, and simply observe the wildlife around you. It’s the perfect spot to unwind after a safari. On top of that, the people and the food are just wonderful!

The host and his family were very welcoming. The room was clean, and the washroom was well-maintained. Despite the late hour, the host kindly prepared dinner for me at 11:30 pm and was very attentive. The meal was delicious, enough for two people, and had the perfect level of spice. During my stay, I had a knee injury, and the host and his family were extremely helpful. They carried my bag to my room and even recommended good ointments for my injury. The host also dropped me off at the bus stand free of charge. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to family and friends.

What a special place surrounded by nature. The room (family room) was well proportioned and well furnished. The indoor out door bathroom was quite unique - we loved it! Breakfast was a lovely mix of western and Sri Lankan, I loved the breakfast curry 🥘 A lovely swimming pool overlooking the local rice fields was a welcome treat in the heat of the afternoon. A perfect destination for couples and families a like.
