It is a confortable little house in the back of the main house. It is clean and just right for up to 2 people. You can walk 15 minutes to 2 different pubs and a grocery store. the university of York is also 15 miutes away.

The location was exceptional, the house was beautiful very spacious, clean and cosy. Secluded in our own private garden and outdoor seating area. Perfect for a weekend away, would definitely stay longer next time. I would highly recommend this house, the host was very helpful throughout the stay xx

The property was beautiful, home from home, with everything there that you needed, the welcome pack was a lovely gesture as well left by Claire. The village was quiet, which was nice, but good in the fact that relaxing/chilled (with village pub just across the road serving lovely food) we had days out in York and Beverley. We are certainly going back......

The house was clean and perfect for what we used it for went for my daughters 21st with family and friends and couldn’t of asked for anything more it catered for all ages we all had a blast and the kids were entertained with the pool while us adults enjoyed the hot tub and party areas 😍

Gary and Jennifer are the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. Backside Lodge is equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. Lovely warm welcome on arrival. Homemade scones, biscuits, sweets, bottle water, bottle of beer and a bottle of wine waiting in the lodge for use. A lovely touch to a perfect stay. The bed was so comfortable and the lide was extremely clean. Can't wait to go back.

    A very attractive rural retreat. We enjoyed relaxing at the property and were an easy 20min drive to York to explore the city. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The kitchen had everything needed for cooking.

    The property was very well presented, comfortable, good kitchen and dining facilities for five adults, well heated it was still early March, private outside sitting area, upstairs (first floor) bathroom with WC plus second WC downstairs off kitchen and easy to contact owner. It was situated in the heart of the village opposite local Co-op and well used shops and next to local pub. There were good local walking paths, but too muddy to use in winter / early spring. Overlooked old mill, river and local park with ducks.
