Situated in Goodrich, the recently renovated Jollys of Goodrich features accommodation 31 km from Kingsholm Stadium and 8.3 km from Wilton Castle. This property offers access to a patio, free private parking and free WiFi. The holiday home has family rooms. We had a very relaxing three night stay at Jolly's cottage which was immaculately clean with fresh decor carpets etc and well equipped kitchen, Good off road parking, There is an upmarket pub in the village - we chose to walk to the alternative Cross Keys for a meal (including vegan). The majestic Goodrich Castle ruin (English Heritage) is in the village, and emergency supplies can be picked up in the next village on the A road, Morrisons, Sainsburys or Aldi in Ross. We used the cottage as a base to kayak on the rapids at Symonds Yat a very short 5 min drive away (we launched at Wyedean Adventure - pay for parking and launching). We also did a short 2 hour river trip from the public park at the Hope and Anchor, Ross on Wye down to the Parish Canoe Launch at Kerne Bridge (in the village not at the bridge) with the added bonus of a regular morning public bus service shuttle back to Ross from just outside the launch. It is usually possible to paddle upstream from all three points. Other attractions are available, including walks along the Wye. If you don't have boats or paddle boards with you, several open canoe liveries offer out and back or point to point rental on what is normally a gentle summer river with shallow rapids. You must have, or hire, a buoyancy aid to launch at Wyedean.

Quirky, romantic cottage with garden in Wye Valley, a property with a garden, is situated in Ross on Wye, 33 km from Kingsholm Stadium, 9.2 km from Wilton Castle, as well as 15 km from Puzzlewood. Guests can benefit from a patio and a picnic area. There is an outdoor fireplace and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. Full of character. A hidden gem. My 15-year-old daughter said within 5 minutes of being in the property, "I am in love and want to live here." Definitely a romantic and quirky stay, as advertised! Exceeded expectations. Offers something very different. Built in 1900, offering a sense of history. Spiral staircase up through the middle of the building gave it a 'lighthouse' feel. Modest in size, it felt grand. Self-contained. Stone lintles. Rustic, warm, and cosy appeal. Off the beaten track. Gardens were substantial. Lots of planting so will be nice in the summer. We didn't use the fire pit or have a bbq, but it would be perfect for that. Our puppy loved playing outside in the grounds. Dog friendly! There are a few gaps in the fencing, so you need to be paying attention to any 4-legged friends that might want to 'explore'. Big comfy sofa and a selection of dvds were available to finish off our evening. Nice chocolate biscuits, tea and coffee provided too. Bedding and towels included. Short drive to Goodrich Castle, which is a lovely heritage site. We had dinner in Ross at the Hope & Anchor. Taxi was £20 each way, although it is an easy drive. Other options are also available closer. It's worth noting that the WiFi is limited and a work in progress. Also, the spiral staircase would be tricky for anyone with mobility issues. These were non-issues for us. For my wife (it was her birthday) and my daughter, who had a small separate sleeping quarters, this was a perfect stay. Kind thanks to our host, Miriam. We couldn't have had a better stay.. We hope to visit again!
