The location was the perfect base for exploring the Golden Circle and the neighbouring Selfoss. It was also convenient to Keflavik Airport as well as Reykjavik. In the town, there are restaurants, cafes, bars, grocery shops and petrol stations if you just want to hang about the village. We walked to the brewery our first night - everything’s within a 10-15 minute walk. There’s also some hiking and thermal springs close by (we didn’t get to dip in the springs because we ran out of daylight). On to the property - it was like being home and living near a friendly neighbour. It felt very private and the cabin was very warm in freezing temperatures. (once we identified the one window that was left on breathe!) There was everything we needed for cooking/eating and the coffee machine was a bonus. There’s no cable TV, but that was perfectly fine - we just cosied up to some Netflix movies at the end of the day (when we weren’t in the sauna or hot tub). The bathroom was spacious and clean and soap, etc. was available, which was unexpected and handy. The bedroom was comfortable for the both of us. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we sleep like babies the entire stay. Our favourite parts of our stay were the sauna and hot tub. We enjoyed a couple of sauna sessions during our stay and spent a few nights in the hot tub. On our last night, we were slightly bummed that we didn’t see the northern lights and around the time we were thinking to get out, they appeared and put on the most beautiful show. We didn’t have our cameras, but it’s a memory that will live with us for a long time. Last, but not least, the hosts were incredible and friendly and available when we needed them. They were also very communicative before and during our stay. We’ve been considering a second trip when the weather improves, and if we’re down that way, we Weill certainly stay in the Backyard Village again.

Surrounded by peaceful, empty fields, we loved watching the migrating birds gather just outside. The silence and coziness made it so relaxing. The bed was super comfy, and the kitchen had everything we needed. But the best part was the hot tub – it was absolutely amazing to soak in it while the chilly air surrounded us. A truly unforgettable, serene getaway!

Lovely Home to stay in, that allowed us to get a good home cooked meal and get caught up on laundry.

When staying at the holiday home, guests can use private entrance. An absolute highlight on our 2-week Iceland trip. The place is spacious and very clean, extremely comfortable and well equipped. Spent most spare time in the perfectly temperate hot tub soaking in the midnight sun and the peace this place has. Communication was very proactive and friendly, 10/10, would love to move in right away ;)

Set on the Golden Circle Region in South Iceland, this property is 2 km from the famous landmark Kerið. It offers modern houses with free WiFi, a fully equipped kitchen and a private terrace with mountain views. Selfoss is less than 20 minutes' drive away. This was AMAZING! I came across Kerbyggð when I planned my itinerary months ago, but opted for a different house in the end. Due to a last minute change in our travel plan we booked an overnight stay at a two bedroom suite here. My biggest (only) regret of this holiday is not staying here longer! From the finishing of the house to the amenities, the hotel worthy beds and sheets, the views and location, nothing can be faulted. The price per night is in the higher end, also for Iceland, but it's really worth it.
