We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Upon check-in, we were upgraded to a higher room category at no extra charge. The views from the balcony and terrace overlooking the sea are magnificent. The room is very clean. Housekeeping is done every day. The staff is courteous. The manager is a professional in his field. The tasty, fresh breakfast with a wonderful view of the lagoon makes it even more delightful.

Great surrounding - beautiful restaurant, swimming pool area (also good for little kids), very close to the sea and seaside street with shopping area and bars/restaurants. Small town but very pleasant. It has everything you need for a fun and relaxing vacation. Various activities can be done: cruises, excursions, quad safaris, snorkeling, scuba diving, etc. Being located in a bay, the sea water is very calm and ideal for swimming. Sandy, clean beaches. Tasty dishes at restaurants.

Balion is a very crowded , popular coastal town in Crete but once you park at the hotel you can just walk down the (steep) stairs to the little beach. It is a quiet location so perfect to sit and take in the view. We do get tired of hiring sunbeds to add to our holiday exenses and unfortunately there is only a tiny patch of sand to relax on. The jet skies get prime waterfront position too but once in the water, it is calm and very enjoyable. We stayed 2 nights, probably 4 would have been better to enjoy the views and atmosphere. Beautiful place but need to know how to get to hotels. There is a bus stop in the hill above the town so you need to wait for mini train into town unless you want to walk down hill into to town 20-30 minutes depending on your hotel local. I think there is only one taxi in town so they could be busy when you arrive,

Balion is basically a few little areas dotted along the coast. Each area has restaurants and hotels and a few shops. You can walk between a couple but for the ones further away you'll need a car or can use the small on road train service which runs every hour and is very cheap. Mambo is a great choice to eat. There's also a great place at the very top of the hill - in a secluded bay with only 2 tavernas. Its the half way point on the train. The taverna furthest from the steps is the one to pick!

The place itself (Bali) so beautiful and attractive and the hotel's location is right in the middle of it with everything (beach, supermarket, travel agency, car rental, local train stop, sea port, tavernas) in 3-5 minutes walk distance. Lovely host Tula has become a good friend of me. Will certainly recommend the Marinakis studios to everyone, who prefers home-like stay in a small and cosy apartment to all-inclusive hotel comfort.

The staff tried their best to make our stay enjoyable, despite few hurdles.
