We really enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer than one night. The suite was spacious and fabulous. Everything was very modern and clean and we had an extremely large bathroom 'suite'. There was plenty of space for everything. We had complimentary fruit on arrival. The staff were so helpful and pleasant. I thought I had lost my passport whilst unpacking and one of the staff spent a lot of time helping me to find it with very good grace. The breakfast was very good. I didn't use all the facilities. I wasn't expecting them as I thought the hotel was 3* but it really was of 4* calibre as far as I was concerned.

Gorgeous city by the sea.
Gorgeous city by the sea. Beautiful blend of the old and the new, from a bridge designed by Gustave Eiffel to a modern shopping plaza in the centre of town near the main train station. A definite Parisian feel with lots of colorful sidewalk cafes and shops along clean, tree lined streets. Viano do Castelo has a nice maritime feel to it with nearby beaches, historic old city center, many good restaurants, and sits below the amazing Santa Luzia Cathedral. One must visit the Cathedral and if daring go up to the top of the Cathedral (mix of elevator and then steps) for the best 360 degree views of the region, ocean and land.

I loved everything about Viana do Castelo.
I loved everything about Viana do Castelo. It was New Year's Eve and the atmosphere was incredible. Definitely one of the best nights of my life! The people, the decorations, the lights and although a lot of fun was being had, it just felt so safe and welcoming! The next morning the streets were spotless, everyone wishing you a Happy New Year and it was all in all just perfect. I'll definitely be coming back. Lovely town to stroll around with lots of interesting buildings/architecture, nice boutiques and specialist shops and a good mix of places to eat. If we had stayed longer it would have been worth having a car but for 4 nights it was fine without. (Hotel has a car park)

The pool was lovely and clean and we had a quick dip arfter walking all day and it was great. Since arriving in Portugal I’ve developed an allergy’s cough. I asked the host in the morning if she had anything for a cough, expecting possibly cough sweets, instead she made me a homemade cough mixture from homemade honey and lemons. Which really did help!! This place is an absolute rural gem on the Camino. There’s also a little restaurant just a 5 min walk away.

Room was very nice with a view. The beach at this stage is mostly rocks, and during our stay in May it was fairly cool out, but great views. Overall, a very nice stay for our journey.

Rooms were large, spacious and very clean with a love balcony overlooking the sea and super bathroom. Would recommend staying here and would book again if visiting Viana do Castelo. Right on the Camino coastal route. If I have any comment it would be the restaurant - my vegetables (spinach) weren’t the best but that is personal choice.
