Offering an outdoor pool and spa centre, Castanheiro Boutique Hotel is set in Funchal, 500 metres from Marina do Funchal. Everything! Staff were great and location was 30 seconds to the old town with a ton of restaurant options. All the staff from the front desk to Carlos and Jose in the bar were extremely friendly and great at their jobs! Would definitely stay here again.

Located in the hills surrounding Funchal, this 18th-century mansion is set in extensive botanical gardens with 600 different plant species. All rooms have balconies overlooking the gardens. We enjoyed the warm welcome at the front desk and by the concierge. Everyone working in the hotel is highly professional and very friendly. We felt taken care of by superb hosts in a wonderful environment, the gardens are just marvelous and the house radiates a warm coziness.

Orquidea opens out on to an extra-large roof-top terrace, overlooking Funchal and the Atlantic Ocean. It was a very nice stay, nothing to complain about. Big room, good location and fine breakfast.

Set in lush, landscaped gardens, 5-star Quintinha São João features a spa and indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools. Overlooking central Funchal and the bay, it is 2 km from Funchal Cathedral. I loved this hotel - it has an old style charm to it, room was very spacious, meticulously clean with a view of the beautiful gardens. Great spa and indoor and outdoor pools. Lovely breakfast - particularly loved the omelettes and fresh juices. Staff are very attentive, helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
