The old town within the walled city has plenty to explore.
The old town within the walled city has plenty to explore. Lots of places to eat and drink. We went on an interesting walking tour which explained the history of the city.
We were only there a day as walking the Camino Primitivo but could easily have stayed longer.

The city is beautiful and has lots to offer… for example the Cathedral has an impressive museum upstairs on the gallery as well as a stunning altarpiece and stained glass windows; the tourist information office has an important exhibition about the Roman wall, which is apparently the most complete walled city in Europe. You can walk all the way along the wall in about 45 minutes.
Coupled with this, there are amazing bars and restaurants with friendly locals and the Playa de Las Catedrales, north of Lugo is the most stunning beach I’ve ever seen.

Mostly pedestrian within the walls, so easy to wander through interesting streets and you can do full circuit of the Roman walls, about 2k, wide path and views over city.Other Roman remains slightly disappointing although the mosaic house was worth visiting. We also enjoyed the exhibition on the Camino in the regional tourist office. Panels in Gallician, Spanish and English. Helpful attendant showed us costume display, garden and gave us leaflets for the different Camino routes.

Lugo is a good place to visit for a day or overnight trip - the Roman walls and old town offer good options for sightseeing- walk the entire wall and then there are many fabulous bars and restaurants - great Tapas - it is not touristy
Hostal Alba is a gem in a wonderful city. It’s location is centrally located and convenient to stairs to the Roman wall, the cathedral, restaurants and bars. I visited Lugo by bus after hiking the Portuguese. The hostel is within 300 meters from the bus station and is within the walls. Pedro is an incredible host who’s efforts maybe stay a delight. He provided a map and made personal annotations to it to open the city up based upon my interests. He, like this hostel are gems in the town of Lugo.
The breakfast was good. But the best thing about the hotel was the restaurant. Superb top class food. Bear in mind its difficult to find a good restaurant in Spain (unless in big city): most are bars and cafes. Location was good- 15 min walk to the walled city part. Car park is part of the hotel (underneath) and you can pay as part of the bill - abut 16 E a night. Free parking on the road but it was a hire car so... Nice big room. Fridge with snacks and beverages.
Modern hotel with swimming pool, gym and nice facilities. It is outside the city which it was ok with us. We had a car to drive into the city. We enjoyed the spacious rooms and the air conditioning. My grandsons loved the pool and gym. The staff was helpful. They had a breakfast buffet which we didn’t go. Also a cafeteria where we had breakfast. Great value for the price. I would go again.
A ten minute walk from the old town, maybe less if you don't get lost like me.. it was a very down to earth hotel with on-site parking. You must have a reservation for the parking because it is limited . The rooms were not super modern, but they were very clean, and the hotel was inexpensive. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The apartment is literally around the corner from the bus station and the host met us along the way there. It was exactly as described and easy to live in for a few days. One of the best-equipped apartments we've reserved through Booking.com
When we return to Lugo this will be our first choice of where to stay.
This spot was perfect for our short stay in Lugo. It was super clean with attention to detail. The space was perfect for our family. It was a lovely and peaceful stay. Lola is a gracious and attentive host with a gracious spirit about her. I highly recommend staying there.
This is THE ideal location for a trip to Lugo! Perfect location within the famous city walls. AND secure underground parking! Adrian was amazing with his communication and there to meet us on arrival. Spotlessly clean and generous choice of breakfast items.
Hotel España was clean, comfortable and very well located just outside the old town of Lugo. the view of the Roman walls was outstanding. the staff was friendly and accommodating, and the value was terrific.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and decent value for money. The area around the hotel had a good mix of places to eat and have a drink and a small mix of laundry services and supermercado (groceries).
I loved that the host was able to accommodate our late arrival. We could only book a late bus to Lugo and he was kind enough to let us check in. Everything was super clean and perfect location.
The hotel is nice and clean, close to the Roman wall and attraction places. The staffs are polite, especially 'Juan Corol' maybe wrong spelling. anyway he is very good.
