Beyond The Full Monty
Partially located in the Peak District, Sheffield is best known as the setting of "The Full Monty" and indeed, vibrant Sheffield has everything: excellent shopping, great nightlife and an impressive athletic heritage.
It first became famous during the Industrial Revolution for its pioneering role in the UK steel industry. One technique invented here is commemorated in the name of its most famous theater, The Crucible, home of the Snooker World Championships.
Close by are the peaceful Winter Gardens with their multi-arched roof. The Peace Gardens are overlooked by the elegant town hall, and the focal building of the impressive Botanical Gardens somewhat resembles Crystal Palace, also by the same architect.
The city’s 2 soccer teams – Sheffield United and Wednesday – play at Bramall Lane and Hillsborough Stadium respectively. The cutting-edge English Institute of Sport is also based here, and the nearby Sheffield Arena is a prime UK venue for music and entertainment. The best shopping is found in the Meadowhall Centre near Rotherham.

There is no aircon in the rooms.
There is no aircon in the rooms. The rooms are a claustrophobic worse nightmare. A really weird layout. Parking is over priced and restricted with no guarantee that you’ll have a space if you go out and come back. The room floor gets wet after a shower and as it isn’t carpet stays wet unless you use your towel. All of the staff were very friendly and polite.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10

I was visiting my Grandson at the University just for the weekend. I would have liked to stay longer to go walking in the Peak District. We did go walking Saturday afternoon but would have liked to do more. Sheffield is a good base for visiting the Peak District. It is also good for Shopping and Eating out. Would like to return soon.

Sheffield is a brilliant place for a short visit. There's so much to do. It's a vibrant city with something for everyone – gigs, arts, countryside, shopping, people-watching. Very friendly to visitors. Plenty of trams and buses makes car-free travel easy. If you are travelling by car, allow plenty of time because it can get busy at peak periods. There is plenty of safe parking (try Qpark) but it's not cheap. First time I'd been to a show at the City Hall, and I'm really impressed by the venue. Look up at the painted ceilings. The absolute chaos in the middle of town.
The absolute chaos in the middle of town. Why they couldn’t do one bit and finish it before going on to another part, I don’t know. There was only work being done on limited zones so planning could have caused far less inconvenience. Also, it was very annoying that we couldn’t hail a taxi and had to walk through the cold and wet to get one and be inconvenienced by walking around all the scaffolding etc! We loved the restaurants, however. Pizza Express was very helpful with our three small nieces and nephew. Piccolino made us very welcome and had delicious food. We also ate at Ask Italian, altogether positive. The potholes and lumpy roads made driving around very scary.Cowmeadow - 10Scored 10

The staff was nice and answered our questions prior to booking. The room is very spacious and clean, bigger than we thought! Very comfortable bed. The shower stream is strong, the natural soaps are amazing. It's a big plus to be able to have both a shower and a bath to choose from. The air conditioning was working great. The view is amazing. Facilities at hotel are also excellent, gym and pool are very good, they also have an amazing playroom for babies and young children, which my little granddaughter loved. For me this is a 10 out 10 hotel.
