It was truly a pleasure to stay in this 110 year old traditional Japanese house. There were no other guests at the time and we had the whole house to ourselves. The house is tastefully furnished and there is even a new trail bicycle available for guests. The host was extremely helpful and friendly. He offered to make reservations for us at a local restaurant and even drove us (at a time that best suited us) to the trailhead for our hike at Magome.

Location is fantastic. Room was very comfortable. Futons and sheets extremely comfortable. Host was very accommodating and even prepared a small breakfast for us very early before our hike. I loved the atmosphere in Magome Chaya, it is traditional, and I enjoy the futon beds which can feel a bit hard for someone prefering soft matrasses. We had a lovely view from our room overlooking the mountains. The day we were in Magome was very warm but inside it was cool and pleasant.
