We were a couple blocks away from the Omonia metro station and a quick trip to the Acropolis. The apartment was very well furnished and served our young family of 5 very well. We had one kid sleep on the couch and two in the bedroom. You control the air conditioning and it cooled down very fast after spending the day touring the city. You're close to the Central Market and just 10 minutes from Monastiraki, and even closer to Psyrri.

Nikos is a kind and responsive gentleman who treated us like family (my husband and I, and our 5 children.) The 7 of us had plenty of room, the apartment is in a safe central location, and you can walk to the sights/action in just a few minutes. Refrigerator was thoughtfully stocked with groceries. I arrived at the Acropolis around 8:10 AM and there were only around 20 people on the whole compound
If you want to avoid crowds while seeing the famous sights, start out early and be at the sights when they open. I arrived at the Acropolis around 8:10 AM and there were only around 20 people on the whole compound. It was wonderful! There was a crowd climbing the hill when I descended, though!

Consider visiting Athens in May or September. May is just lovely. Spring flowers like poppies and daisies cover the hills. It's not too busy and not too hot. Remember that on holidays you are always moving so consider the weather when you make your plans. Also, research opening hours as the Acropolis is closed May 1; and other Ancient Landmarks are closed on certain days and on certain hours any other day.
