Service was impeccable. The kaiseki in-room dinner was fantastic. Presentation was 10/10 and food was really fresh! Would definitely stay here again on my next trip!

The air-conditioned rooms at Hotel Asafuji have Shoji paper screens and a low table with floor chairs and cushions. Each room includes a fridge, private toilet, and guests bathe at the hot-spring baths. Japanese-style futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor is provided. Yukata robes are offered for guests. Free station pick-up is convenient. The room and public onsen bath were very clean and with fantastic view. Sleepling in the futons on tatami was an interesting experience like in Doraemon and Chibi maruko-chan! It was comfortable, We got a very good rest. We were hosted by a lady from Vietnam, who was kind, attentive and helpful. She clearly introduced each dish during the meal and there was no problem in English communication. The food part was extremely amazing! The dinner and breakfast were very rich and delicious. We fully tasted the flavor of the ingredients and felt the chef's intention👍 This visit was perfect and I will definitely come again.

Just a 2-minute walk from Takayama Station, Oyado Koto No Yume offers Japanese-style rooms with a colourful touch. The hotel features hot-spring baths, a restaurant serving breakfast and free WiFi throughout the property. This ryokan is introduced in Michelin Green Guide Japan. It's really hard to express how superb this stay was. And it was only 1 day. I imagine this is thanks to type of the place, not being typical hotel, but rather traditional ryokan with it's quality. From the beginning, the staff was excellent. Helpful, informative, easy to talk to. The room, comparing to our other hotels, was huge. Sleeping on futon was our best sleeping experience during whole stay in Japan. We have booked private bath, and again - everything well prepared, all important things available in the room. We were provided also with yukatas to be used in ryokan, but in addition we could also use more colorful that could be used outside. Hotel is 5 minutes walk from main station and on the way to old town of Takayama. The last but not least - breakfast was the best we had in Japan. We have chosen Japanese one and we could try many elements.

Luxurious ryokan Fuji Onsenji Yumedono is located just 500 metres from Lake Kawaguchiko. It features traditional Japanese cuisine served in the dining area, suites with in-room hot springs and a garden. This was an exceptional stay. While the onsen doesn't offer a direct view of mount Fuji, we could clearly see it on our drive over thanks to clear skies. When we entered the premises, the staff was attentive immediately. From taking our luggage to making sure we were set up in our room. The room was SPACIOUS, with a lounge area and bedroom with screens to close off sections. The highlight was having our own outdoor bath to enjoy during cold winter nights. Perhaps the most breathtaking aspect of our stay were the meals. We were blown away by our dinner. It was the best thing we ate during out entire trip in Japan (we were in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto prior). We enjoyed a sumptuous parade of dishes that really showed off the local ingredients. We didn't think it could get better, but breakfast the next day was equally, if not more, delicious. While expensive, we enjoyed a serene getaway with our private outdoor bath and excellent meals. Would love to return.

The Japanese-style rooms at Historical Ryokan Hostel K's House Ito Onsen are air-conditioned and come with traditional tatami-mat flooring. Most rooms enjoy beautiful views of the Matsukawa River. Traditional inn, old building but extremely clean and warm. I booked room without toilet, glad there is shared toilet on every floor and 1 just outside our room. Common lounge has card and board games, we had great time playing. Staff are polite and helpful, location is near restaurants and Ito station.

It is located 2 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village and features luggage storage space. The ryokan has parking on-site, a hot spring bath and full-day security. The hosts were welcoming and attentive to our needs. The decor and ambience of our room. Available parking and the cleanliness of the place.

Offering a shared lounge and quiet street view, Toraya is set in Gero, 48 km from Takayama Station and 49 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village. The 3-star ryokan features mountain views and is 700 metres from Gero Station. The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. This was a great find! The location, facilities, staff and breakfast was excellent. The Onsen was outdoor and had a beautiful garden setting. The check-in was very personable and informative about what to see and where to eat. We will return.
